Wax Melts. What are they?

**What Are Wax Melts?**

Wax melts are scented pieces of wax, often crafted in various appealing shapes, colours, and sizes. When heated in a burner, these wax melts release a delightful aroma into the surrounding space. Unlike candles, wax melts do not have a wick and are not lit directly.

While candles use a flame to melt the wax, wax melts require a burner for heating. Our wax melts are made from a high-quality soy wax blend, ensuring a long-lasting fragrance experience. They are popular for their affordability and ease of use, making them a wonderful option for fragrancing the home over extended periods.

**How to Use Wax Melts**

To use wax melts, a wax melt burner is necessary. Simply add a few wax melts to the reservoir at the top of the burner, based on your preferred scent strength. For electric burners, follow the specific instructions to power it on. If using a tea light oil burner, place a tea light in the designated recess and light it. The heat from the flame will gradually melt the wax, releasing its fragrance.

When you wish to stop the fragrance, extinguish the tea light or turn off the electric burner. Over time, wax melts naturally lose their scent due to the gradual dissipation of fragrance oils when exposed to heat. Once the aroma is no longer noticeable, it is time to replace the wax melt.

**Key Points About Wax Melts and Scent**

  • **Natural Process:** The loss of scent is a normal aspect of how wax melts function. Several factors, including the quality of the wax and fragrance oil, ambient temperature, and frequency of use, can all impact the longevity of the scent.
    - **When to Replace:** Replace your wax melt when the fragrance is no longer detectable.

**How Long Do Wax Melts Last Before Usage?**

Generally, wax melts can last as long as 12 months if unopened. To extend their shelf life, consider the following storage tips:

1. **Keep Them Cool and Dry:** Store wax melts in a cool, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and humidity. Excessive heat can cause the melts to soften or lose their fragrance.
2. **Airtight Containers:** Use airtight containers or resealable bags to protect the wax melts from air exposure, which helps maintain their potency.
3. **Label and Date:** Clearly label your wax melts with the purchase date or expected usage period to ensure proper rotation.

**Do Wax Melts Lose Their Scents If Not Used?**

Indeed, like many scented products, unused wax melts can lose their fragrance over time. For optimal scent experience, it is advisable to use wax melts within 12 months of purchase. When storing them for extended periods, keep them in a cool, dry place, away from direct light to preserve the wax.

**What to Do With Old Wax Melts?**

As your wax melts are used, they will gradually lose their scent and need to be replaced. Before adding new melts or changing fragrances, it is essential to remove the old wax from your oil burner. Allow the wax and burner to cool completely, then either pop the cooled wax disk out or carefully scoop out stubborn wax remnants with a spoon. Clean any remaining residue with warm, soapy water and let the burner dry before its next use.

**How to Change Wax Melts**

To change wax melts, begin by removing the old wax as described previously. After clearing most of the old wax, wash away any leftover residue with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. Once the oil burner is thoroughly clean and dry, you can add new wax melts to the reservoir and continue to enjoy your favourite scents.
